Ep 169 - Five Movies We Can Always Watch

Some movies you have to be in the mood to watch. Some movies we only watch at certain times or for certain reasons. But some movies we can watch anytime, anywhere and as many times as possible. On this episode, we share our list of five movies (and some series) that we can watch over and over again.

Ep 111 - Who Are You?

While everyone is unique, we’re constantly trying find out what group we fit in with or what kind of person someone is. Astrology uses the stars and our birth dates and Myers Briggs uses a complex, lengthy questionnaire to do this. But in the end all we really need to know is are you a Gryffindor or a Hufflepuff? What color light saber would you carry? Which Star Fleet captain would you best serve? This week we take several personality quizzes to find out who we really are. If you want to play along, here are the quizzes we took:

Which Hogwarts House are you and what is your patronus? http://www.pottermore.com

Which color lightsaber are you? https://ultrasabers.com/holocron/what-lightsaber-color-are-you/

Which Star Fleet Captain are you? http://epicstream.com/quizresult/Which-Star-Trek-Captain-Are-You

Which X-Men are you? https://brainfall.com/quizzes/which-x-men-character-are-you/

Ep 89 - Pop Culture Mini Golf

Mini golf has been entertaining families and couples for decades and has become a mainstay in American pop culture. While some courses are fairly simple offering a few concrete obsticles and the occassional hill to put up, others incorparate moving parts, sound effects and light shows. This week we're creating our own mini golf course based on our favorite pop culture properties. Could you get the ball past the T-rex on the Jurassic Park hole?

Ep 82 - I Just Don't Get It

What it is with Harry Potter some people are so in love with? Why are some people all about cosplaying everything under the sun? Can we please stop with the Pokemon thing? Even if you're a well-rounded geek, there are some things you're either not into or just don't get. This week we explore those things that we just can't get behind or aren't into.

Ep 34 - Assigned Movie Roles

Have you ever sat around with your friends and determined who would be who in a given movie? Sure you have, everyone does. This week, it's our turn. We chose some classic geeky movies and as a group, figured out who would play who... even the members that didn't make it on the show. So who would Cy and Eugene be in Star Wars? What characters best reflect Lanie and Kris in Lord of the Rings? Which Avengers best represent Ray and Jay? But more importantly, who would Rudy and Louis be in the Harry Potter Universe?

Ep 30 - Fictional House Hunting

House hunting shows are all the rage. Tiny houses, vacation houses, houses in foreign countries most people would never consider. So we decided to do a little house hunting ourselves... but in fictional universes. Given the choice, would you choose a family friendly fixer-upper like the The Burrow which is zoned for a great school like Hogwarts or perhaps a roomy castle in the Mushroom Kingdom with quick commutes to work via warp pipes? Perhaps a mansion on the outskirts of Gotham with a really nice finished basement?

Ep 16 - Geek Coat of Arms

A coat of arms is used to represent a person's family and lineage. But how could an outdated family coat of arms really represent you in modern times? This week the group creates our own geek coat of arms. Each person was tasked with choosing colors, symbols for the shield, a crest, supports and a motto. The end result is actually a pretty accurate description of our geeky passions.

Ep 14 - Good & Bad Book to Movie Adaptations

Those of us who love books have probably dreamt about seeing one of our favorite novels coming to life on the big or small screen at some time. And while some books have been translated masterfully like The Lord of the Rings, others not so much, like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. This week we take a look at the good and the bad and why the stories we loved so much on the page didn't work out so well on a screen. Which is better, read the book or watch the movie first? Is it possible to be a bad adaptation and still be a good movie or TV show?
